Detox has been a topic of conversation for some time now. Many people argue that our organs are already great at detoxing the whole of the body and that is so correct.

WOW what an amazing job of taking care off our bodies our liver and kidneys do for us in terms of detoxifying! However, I firmly believe that to detoxify ourselves on a holistic level benefits us not only on a physical level but on a mental, emotional and spiritual level too.  

How do I know this?  

Because for the last 20 years I have been more than intrigued about how what we consume impacts our energy levels and ability to be the best version of ourselves possible -  and not just through what we eat and drink, but what we watch, listen to and absorb through our skin and our senses.

Anybody who knows me and my message will understand that it is my mission in life to help you to become the best version of yourself possible. You AND the rest of the world! :)

 WE are living in a toxic world! Period! Full stop. 

Food is rarely organic, pesticides and harmful chemicals are put into even the healthiest of food groups. Harsh chemicals are put into our cleaning products. Cosmetics poison our blood streams and the air that we breathe is laced in toxic waste produce! Let's not even mention what watching the news and social media does to our ability to be happy and healthy!

Gosh - I'm not meant to be making you feel depressed my lovely but the truth is scary when we think about it. Thank god that our bodies and minds are so efficient and enable us to fight off the free radicals and negative influences that we are subjected to on a daily basis.

If we don’t have a ‘clean out’ every so often, our whole beings can become overwhelmed.

How do we know that we are overwhelmed?

You may experience one or more of these…

  • Brain fog
  • Lack of energy
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Stomach bloating
  • Constipation
  • Lack of motivation
  • Bad skin
  • Reduced confidence
  • PMT and other hormonal issues

Listen, I will be really honest here - I am not on a constant detox. I know many people like to be super duper healthy but for me I do a complete detox twice a year and then work on staying in balance for the rest of it. 

I can honestly say though that I do feel my best during the times when I am eating and drinking the cleanest way possible with no wheat, alcohol, sugar or dairy. Not listening to negative press or absorbing stuff that really does not serve my greater purpose in life.

Here are just 5 of the many benefits:

More energy - The hardest thing that your body has to do is digest, when you take out this process then your body can recover more quickly. The lighter the food that you consume then the less rest you will need. This will also create more motivation too which will lead you to achieving more - it has a massive knock on effect which can only ever be positive, right ? This is the same for letting go of thoughts and behaviours that no longer serve you.

Clarity of thought - With less sludge to get through your thoughts are faster, clearer and more concise than normal. You can really focus to a different level when you’ve cut the junk out of your life. This have a MASSIVE impact on your stress and anxiety levels. When you’re clear and focused and in control of the thoughts that you have then anxiety just can not be present - THIS is a biggy!

Weight Loss - Now I am not a big fan of promoting weight loss as I am a real advocate of loving the body the way that it is, but the hard truth is that most of us are carrying around some weight that is having an impact on our hearts and joints (I can feel the difference when I run, with just an extra 3lbs). When we are being more mindful of what we are putting in our bodies then the pounds melt away effortlessly. If you are someone that could do with shifting some extra pounds then doing it the detox way is so much nicer than having to count calories or deprive yourself as you’re simply nourishing your body in the best way possible and allowing it to fire on all cylinders.  

Improved digestion - when you take out the processed food out of your diet and the gluten, sugar and alcohol your digestion will improve ten fold. Our bodies are constant overloaded so keeping things simple will help our bodies. When our digestion improves so does our mental and emotional well-being, if you didn’t know this already. It is all connected. I have treated many people for anxiety and depression and one of the things that I address in my private practice is my clients nutrition. It has been proven over and over how much our digestive system is linked to our mood. So we will actually feel happier too! 

Growth in confidence -  When we combine all of these factors, along with the discipline that you demonstrate whilst doing a holistic detox, you can’t help but grow in confidence. You’ll feel light in your body and mind. Being able to focus and clarify on what it is that you really want, and how you want life to look is just an amazing feeling. 

Now I am not going to promise that with all detoxes you get that but... you know what? I always do. It may sounds strange if you’ve never experienced feeling so vibrantly healthy in body and mind, but I promise you that, when you experience this you will know what I mean.

Isn’t this enough to want to jump onboard?
